The property included a number of grain mills, plate, copper and nail works which were powered by water from the Trollavassdraget. Trolla Brug was originally built as a commercial goods foundry with the delivery of all kinds of furnace goods, windows, sweeping doors, pipe caps. The mill expanded its business into shipbuilding, which first built wooden boats, but the steamship DS Orkla was built in iron in 1869. Trolla Brug and Fabrikken ved Nidelven were merged in 1872 under the name Trondheim’s Mechanical Workshop. In 1960, the mill bought the enamel workshop located at Ladekaia. Furthermore, they took over Lyng’s foundry in Vanvikan, and the foundry at Øren’s mechanical workshop was moved to Trolla. Trondheim’s Mekaniske Verksted in 1961 was sold to Aker. Later, the company was sold to the main competitor Jøtul Fabrikker, and the production of ovens closed down. Trolla Brug was closed in 1988.

[110,103
