History & Usage*
Throwing a 600g. inert handgr. is one of the exercises you have to pass in order to archive the Athlete Medallion (Idrettsmerket). Idrettsmerket was founded 29th of May 1915, and in 1934 it was opened for women. Its a 105 years old proud Norwegian tradition and athletic achievement. The criteria have been revised several times. Exercise hand grenades provide a low cost and realistic option for instructing soldiers in the proper and safe handling of hand grenades. They often use production parts and inert fill to match tactical grenades with the correct weight and balance and are some times completely inert and often cast in one piece. It is used to give soldiers a feel for the weight and shape of real grenades and for practicing precision throwing.
